Get ready to mark your calendars! April 6th is Open House! This will be the first Open House at PVES in two years. We are excited to invite you to visit classrooms and see the accomplishments your child/children have made this year.

We are awaiting the update on LAUSD’s indoor mask policy. Here is the message sent out by our new Superintend and a link to a conversation between LAUSD’s medical director and our health partners.

In our TK through second grade our classrooms teachers use the program Second Step to teach social/emotional skills. The curriculum covers skills for learning, empathy, emotion management and more. Secondstep.org explains the program in detail. You may review the curriculum for each grade level.

Throughout the month of February our students have been celebrating Black History Month. Each grade level and classroom have been learning about the contributions made to the country and the world by African Americans.

Spring Parent Conference take place the week of March 7th. These parent conferences are optional. Teachers will reach out to you and request that you schedule a time to meet if they have concerns about your child's progress...

This past Wednesday I attended the Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club Teacher Mini-Grant Awards Breakfast Mr. Lim, Dr. Mohazab, and Ms. Wong all received mini-grants! The funds will go to meet a variety of needs from increasing classroom libraries to equipment for class time P.E. Congratulations teachers!

Have you noticed that there are volunteers at the gates in the morning scanning your Daily Pass? A big thank you to the parents who have volunteered to help out. Every parent who has been at the gate comments on how much fun it actually is! It’s a great way to support and connect with our community.

Let’s keep teaching our kids proper safety rules everyday! Please remind them that it is very dangerous to walk behind cars because they can be backing up and not see small children. Follow the crossing guard’s instructions.

The three overarching rules at PVES are Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Respectful and Responsible. The responsibility of modeling these rules falls on every adult in our learning community.

Yes! It’s time for school tours! Our first tour is this Tuesday and under the present circumstances, it will be a virtual tour. It is hoped that the COVID surge will subside soon and tours can be held in person.
