Welcome to Playa Vista Elementary School!

Greetings Playa Vista Elementary School Families,

My name is Meteka Bullard, and I am the Principal at Playa Vista Elementary School.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself – both personally and professionally. I am a native Angeleno and have four brothers and one sister. My parents grew up in Texas during segregation, and never ceased teaching me the value of family, hard work, and education, always emphasizing the opportunity I had available to me. I received my Bachelor degree in Dance from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and later went on to receive a Masters in Education and teaching credential from the Teacher Education Program at UCLA. After successfully leading and launching the transformation of a school I taught at for thirteen years, I decided to pursue an administrative credential. I attended Teachers College at Columbia University in New York City where I received a second Masters in Education, along with a preliminary administrative credential. I am happy to share that I cleared my administrative credential via the University of Berkeley’s/Los Angeles’ Leadership Support Program in August 2022. I am now joining the Playa Vista Osprey family as the Principal, and I am beyond excited for this opportunity to work alongside the staff, families and community to continue improving our school. My husband and I have three wonderful daughters, two of which are now students here at Playa Vista.

My vision for PVES is to continue to produce highly STEM-literate students who exude joy, a love of learning, confidence, empathy, and care for the world around them. Our school district and staff continue to actively work to provide a high quality and safe education for your children. We are fortunate to have a highly skilled and vested staff who are committed to setting high expectations for their students, and are fully committed in supporting our children to exceed those expectations. I am confident in saying that our children are in good hands.

We welcome your partnership and active participation, because we cannot achieve our vision alone. You are the most important people in your child’s life, and your child benefits greatly from your active participation. I welcome your support, as well as the community’s support. Should you like to meet with me, I ask that you schedule an appointment by contacting our office at (424) 228-1800, or send an email to mep2353@lausd.net, as I am often moving about observing classrooms to see what the students are learning and supporting the teachers in maintaining a positive learning environment.

I am anticipating a productive and positive year ahead of us despite any obstacles we might face. With school and home working together, I am confident that your child will have a successful year. Teamwork really does make the DREAM work!

Sincerely,

Meteka Bullard
