Yes! It’s time for school tours! Our first tour is this Tuesday and under the present circumstances, it will be a virtual tour. It is hoped that the COVID surge will subside soon and tours can be held in person.
Welcome back from Winter Break! I hope you had time for celebrating, relaxing, and maybe, some adventures during the break. Below are some important LAUSD updates. Please read them carefully so we may reach our goal of keeping every student at PVES safe and healthy.
One of the most important factors that makes PVES a special place to learn is our parent volunteers! This past Friday the Room Parents had a holiday breakfast and I was able to say thank you to those who attended. Now I’d like to say thank you to those who were not able to attend and to all of our parent volunteers here at PVES.
It’s time to give thanks and there is so much to be grateful for at PVES! We have a parent community that continues to step up in these difficult times. You support your child/children by attending parent/teacher conferences, coming to parent workshops, and serving as a room parent or a committee member.
The PVEAB is at its best when its membership reflects the diversity here at PVES. If you haven’t done so already, I urge you to complete the nomination form, become an active member of the board, and support the school community that serves your child/children every day.
PVES students are returning to Discovery Park and the fresh water marsh for walking field trips with the Friends of Ballona Wetlands!! Each field trip will have an in-class per-lesson, the field trip itself, and an in class post lesson.
Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in our PVES Pumpkin Patch fun! Thank you to the dedicated group of parent volunteers who put this event together and came on Saturday to pass out pumpkins. Yours truly was on hand for photo fun!
The Annual Giving Campaign sponsored by the Friends of Playa Vista School has begun! Your generous donations provide Teaching Assistants, the Artsy Kids program, weekly P.E. with Coach Mike, Planet Bravo, and much, much more.
The next Volunteer Orientation is on October 12th. Please join me if you wish to volunteer in your child’s/children’s classroom. We’ll go over volunteer expectations, the required paperwork, and answer all of your questions.
A big thank you to the parents who attended the Growth Mindset Parent Workshop this past week. The presentation and the resources that were reviewed are attached to this posting. Once you have reviewed the materials, please feel free to reach out to me with your questions.
Every morning when the children come out for recess they line up by class and together we say the three overarching rules here at PVES; I am safe, I am kind, I am respectful and responsible. Then I ask what does it mean to be safe, to be kind, and to be responsible.
Our testing day is changing again! This is because of the days we have had off from school. So, this week it is on Monday and there is a possibility that our day will change again next week! Thanks for understanding and hopefully we’ll get back in a routine soon.
