PVES history was made this last week of school. The annual kickball game, where the faculty plays against the promoting fifth grade class, was won by the fifth grade students for the first time! There were some parents playing with the faculty, I needed a designated runner, and we still lost! Well done fifth grade!
Dear PVES Family, Welcome to the last week of the 2021-2022 school year! It is a week full of celebrations. Check the calendar for when and where your child's/children's grade level event takes place. Third grade families, please reach out to your child's teacher to find out when their class will be celebrating.
I'm sure all of us are all still trying to process the horrific events that occurred in Texas this past week. Some parents have asked about our safety drills and procedures here at PVES so I thought I would share them with you in this newsletter. There is also a message from the PVES Safety Committee.
A budget survey was sent out last week. The deadline to complete the survey has been extended until tomorrow, Monday, May 23rd at 3:00. The link follows the newsletter for those of you who haven't already participated.
Just four more weeks of school and many grade levels/classrooms are planning their end of the year activities. Reading the class posts from your child’s/children’s teacher(s) on ParentSquare is the best way to find out how you can help and stay informed.

Great News!! The Read-a-Thon has been extended until the end of this week!! There are class prizes for participation and all the proceed go toward much needed new computers in the computer lab. All the details are on ParentSquare. Just put Read-a-Thon in Search Posts for all the information. Everyone at PVES appreciates your support!
Thank you for coming to Open House to see the classrooms, talk with the teachers face to face, mingle with parents, enjoy the school grounds, and participate in the Book Fair. It was a night that reminded us all of how school is supposed to be and that our school community is strong.
This is a busy week here at PVES! On Monday the Book Fair opens for before and after school visits. Monday night I’ll be reading some of my favorite picture books to help kick off our Read-A-Thon.
Diversity and inclusiveness, two of our strengths at PVES, are highlighted in the newsletter with the announcement of two special meetings. One meeting is for the English Language Advisory Committee or ELAC and the other is for the Black Student Achievement Plan or BSAP.
